January Sales (26 Dec 10 – Jan 11)
Kicking off on Boxing Day, London’s top department stores and boutiques opened their doors to eager shoppers hoping to snap up a bargain! For those seeking something quintessentially British, a trip to Fortnum & Mason comes highly recommended; whilst Harrods sale – simply known as The Sale – extends attractive discounts across its designer brands and welcomed a celebrity guest on the first day to cut the ribbon and officially declare the start of the sale.
English National Ballet: Romeo and Juliet (5 – 15 Jan) at London Coliseum
Set in Renaissance Verona, this powerful production combines Shakespeare’s well-known love story with Prokofiev’s dramatic score. Following the fate of star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet from their first meeting to their tragic deaths, the show features 67 dancers and a full orchestra.
Held in Canada Square Park, the festival welcomes teams of leading sculptors from around the globe, all of whom are there to battle it out to be crowned the ice sculpting champions of 2011! Entry is free and there are also a range of activities including ice sculpting demos, master classes and competitions on offer for all the family.
