Flemings is proud of its association with Royal Warrant shops – especially Fortnum & Mason’s and Asprey’s - but concierge Paul Sabbagh has many others to recommend for those eager for a taste of Royal shopping.
The Royal Warrant is given to shops and stores that have served the Royal household for more than five years. Warrants can only be granted by HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh or HRH The Prince of Wales and these stores, and their products, can be recognised by the warrant seal and famous legend “By Appointment” that they bear.
Here are Paul’s “Six of the Best” Royal Warrant shops in Mayfair.
Fortnum & Mason
(Department Store)

Blow your budget on a Champagne hamper from this very Royal “corner shop” – Fortnum and Mason is one of London’s landmark department stores. Or, for those on a more modest spree, pick up some delicious truffles, tea or traditional English sweets as gifts for friends. You can of course, enjoy Fortnum & Mason goodies at Flemings too.
Rigby and Peller
(Lingerie)
No woman should be without elegant lingerie and where better to pick up chic undergarments than at Rigby and Peller - purveyor of fine delicates to Kate Middleton and co.?
Gieves & Hawkes
(Tailor)
Gieves & Hawkes tailors on Saville Row, just a short walk from Flemings, is the only address for fine-tailoring and bespoke suits. The 200-year old brand will be suiting up Prince William for the big day, as well as his “Best Men”.
Charbonnel et Walker
(Chocolatier)
Charbonnel et Walker offers indulgent and delicious chocolates in beautiful packaging, making it an ideal stop to pick up gifts for sweet tooths. Their drinking chocolate is particularly sinful, as are the dark chocolate enrobed ginger sticks.
Lock & co.
(Hatters)
Credited with inventing the bowler hat, Lock & co., the provider of headware to the Royal family has been creating quality hats for every occasion on St. James’ Street since 1649!
Paxton and Whitfield
(Cheesemongers)
The final stop on the Mayfair Royal Warrant tour has to be Paxton & Whitfield, purveyors of fine cheeses and all the accoutrements – they also have a great selection of Ports and traditional ales to accompany your cheese selection.
