This years sees the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain, celebrating British culture and creativity at the Southbank Centre from 22 April – 4 September.
Britain’s leading artists and thinkers will be holding talks, events and performances for everyone to enjoy.
Highlights include Tracey Emin’s first major survey show in London at the Hayward Gallery (18 May to 29 August) and appearances by Lang Lang, Heston Blumenthal, Billy Bragg, John Berger, Meera Syal and Tony Benn.
Everyone is encouraged to take part, such as contributing memories and personal photographs, letters and home movies of the Festival of Britain 1951, joining a Floral Bicycle Parade on Sunday 28 August and invited to bring memories and memorabilia to share with experts over tea and cake.
This festival is all about celebrating Britain over the last 60 years which we here at Flemings are very much behind. We encourage everyone to join in the celebrations and if you are not a Londoner, why not take the opportunity to visit the capital and come stay in one of our beautiful rooms or apartments.
