Are you staying in London for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee but still don’t know what to do on one of the most special events of the year? Open your diary, there are some events you might want to join:
On the Sunday 3rd of June, spectators will be able to follow one of the most spectacular events from the Thames riverbanks: the Jubilee Pageant. Between 2pm and 6pm 1,000 boats will gather along the river and, considering it’s one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on The Thames, this is set to be an incredible sight!
Thousands of street parties will be celebrated in honor to the Queen. In the Big Jubilee Lunch people will share lunches with neighbors or friends. This is the perfect chance to practice cooking brilliant British recipes. The Piccadilly Street will be closed for the first time in history and will welcome all the arts organizations, such as the Royal Academy of Arts or BAFTA. Walking on the red carpet, watching a display of vintage cars or sitting down in a 500-seat street party table are just a few of the things you would be able to do here. Live music and entertainment, characters of films and great fish and chips, pies and pastries will be available in the Jubilee Family Festival at Hyde Park.
On the 4th of June the Buckingham Palace Concert will gather musical stars from the best of the worlds of rock, pop and classical music and musical theatre genres. The Members of the Royal Family will all be present and correct and even though the ticket ballot is closed it will be broadcast live on the BBC.
Finally, after a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral and lunch in Westminster Hall, the official Queen’s diamond jubilee celebrations will end in a formal carriage procession. You will be able to see the Royal Family travelling from the Palace of Westminster for Buckingham Palace, along Whitehall and the Mall.
