The final countdown to London 2012 has finally begun. In just 30 days, the Olympics will be in full swing and London will be brimming with national spirit and cheer from hundreds and thousands of visitors from around the world.
To kick start the countdown, today Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, gave the go ahead for Olympic Rings to be lowered into place on Tower Bridge. During the Games, across London from Hungerford Bridge to London Bridge, each of the city’s famous bridges will be lit up in a dazzling display of colour during the evenings. Further mobile Olympic rings will travel up and down the Thames past all of London’s famous and historic landmarks.
However, this is just one part of the Mayor’s city-wide ‘Look and Celebration’ programme bringing the city alive with cultural events London wide. The next couple of months are sure to exciting ones – so let the countdown begin!
