The day has finally arrived. From today the gaze of the world will be upon our Capital City as the London Olympic Games 2012 is officially declared underway. With seven years of preparation and anticipation, this evening the Olympic Opening Ceremony will at last be revealed to an audience estimated to be over a billion.
A total cast of 15,000 people will take attempt to portray a snapshot of rural England in the Olympic and Paralympic Opening Ceremony. We have been told to expect scenes of picnics, a cricket match as well as an assortment of livestock taking the stage.
Whatever else acclaimed creative directors Danny Boyle and Stephen Daldry have planned has remained strictly under wraps in the hope that the UK’s biggest ever live show is as diverse and exciting as possible.
The Opening Ceremony will begin at 9pm with the tolling of the 27-tonne bell, the largest harmonically tuned bell in the world, and is scheduled to end around midnight.
