Prism, London Design Festival 2012
As fans of contemporary design, and nominees in the 2011 Bar & Restaurant Design Awards, we’re excited about the arrival of the tenth London Design Festival this month.
Promoting London as the design capital of the world, the festival offers a platform for creative talent accessible to all. For enthusiasts and connoisseurs it is an opportunity to meet with designers, to buy direct from them or even commission a unique piece. Our top festival picks include
Be Open | Trafalgar Square
Be transported by sound. A black rubberised pod in the middle of the square will become a ‘sound portal’, landing visitors in other worlds via soundscapes created by musicians. From urban jungle to the Amazon rainforest – what would Nelson say?

Nelson’s Column, Trafalgar Sq
Inspired by London | Clerkenwell
Explore different visions of our city through jewellery, fashion, art and design. Pick-up one-off designs and unique interpretations at this event.
Bench Years | V&A Museum
A stop for lunch, a romantic tryst or an important meeting point, benches are scattered throughout London and hold different significance for different people. In this exhibition artists have broken with tradition using alternative materials and designs to create new meaning and purpose.

The Cocktail & Tearoom at Flemings Hotel, designed by Grant White
Admire the exhibits and events for this year’s festival, with many highlights within walking distance of our boutique Mayfair hotel.
