The time of year for mulled wine, mince pies and hats and mittens is just about upon us. Cue: outdoor ice-rinks opening for skaters of all levels and ages, accompanied by twinkling lights and wafts of pine.
If you’re coming to stay with us at Flemings over the Christmas period, we definitely recommend that you get your skates on – let us know and we can arrange your tickets for you. If you’re in London and fancy a warming up with a treat after working the rink, pop into our cosy Tea Rooms and enjoy Christmas Afternoon Tea.

The Natural History Museum is a magical skating setting
The experience of gliding around (gracefully or not) with your friends, family or loved one is always going to be magical and make even the biggest scrooge feel the festive cheer. Here is a snapshot guide to London’s top outdoor ice-rinks:
1. Natural History Museum Ice Rink
The majestic Natural History Museum is a stunning backdrop to skating on the outdoor rink, especially at night. It also has a family friendly section so little ones needn’t be daunted by big ones whooshing past.
The historical setting at Tower of London makes for a grand experience as you skate around the moat with the fortress battlements around you. If you’d rather observe, there’s a great viewing gallery!
The breathtakingly beautiful Somerset House is one of the most romantic outdoor skating spots during the festive period. Advice for families – check out the special Penguin Club for children. Advice for party-goers – check out the late-night skate and club nights.
Go sooner rather than later – the ice is fresher. Night time is best with the lovely lights. Don’t forget your gloves!
