Here’s a summary of our favourite London food markets:
Leadenhall Market
Whittington Avenue, EC3V 1LR
Mon – Fri, 11am – 4pm
For traditional game, meat and fish, head to this beautiful Victorian covered market in the heart of the city. It’s also a good place to have a break in one of the pubs or restaurants and watch the world go by. Harry Potter fans, you may recognise this as ‘Diagon Alley’!
Borough Market
Southwark Street, SE11 1TJ
Every day except Sunday
Last week, Prince Charles and Camilla opened a newly restored section of the market which has attracted plenty of attention and further enhances the market’s reputation as one of the best in the country. It’s a great experience wandering round, taking in all the sights and smells and trying the samples, as well as choosing some delicious street food to keep you going. The market also has a great website with lots of behind the scenes info and interviews.

Berwick Street Market
Soho, W1F 8TW
Mon – Sat, 9am – 6pm
For a taste of top notch street food, have a nibble at Berwick Street Market. This is also a brilliant place to pick up your fresh fruit and veg. Established in 1830, this historical market has plenty going on and we recommend exploring the nearby little delicatessens and record shops.
Maltby Street Market
Bermonsey, SE1 3PA
Saturdays
Witness some of the best food and drink producers in London gather under the railway arches in Bermondsey and give in to your watering mouth at one of the appetising eateries. Not far from Borough Market, this is a smaller and more relaxed market where you’ll have more space to peruse at your leisure and stall holders more likely to have the time to talk to you about their produce.
Islington Farmers Market
Islington, N1 2AQ
Sundays 9am – 2pm
This is London’s first and most renowned farmers market which takes place every Sunday between Baron Street and Penton Street. The impressive range of flowers, organic fruit, veg, meat and cheese means you can often find unusual seasonal produce.
