THE EAST INDIA COMPANY

eic

Granted a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I in 1600, The East India Company was founded to explore the mysteries of the East. It discovered exotic goods, established the cities of Singapore, Hong Kong and Mumbai, impacting customs, tastes and ways of thinking - influencing the very fabric of our lives today.

The first teas brought by the Company arrived in London in the 1660’s. In 1664, the Directors presented it as a gift to King Charles II and his Queen, Catherine of Braganza, taking the court and fashionable society by storm.

Today, they are proud to offer the very best of the best in tea - to delight, intrigue, inspire, surprise and refresh - authentic Earl Greys and muscatel Darjeelings, Spicy Chai and Floral Jasmines, along with herbal infusions, green teas, white teas and more.

Working in partnership with The East India Tea Company, Flemings Mayfair has launched a selection of thirteen different traditional and exotic teas including a signature Flemings blend.  Our guests can enjoy our new tea menu and afternoon tea offers in the elegant Drawing Room at Flemings Mayfair Hotel.
